HOW DO YOU MAKE INSTANT POT CARROTS?
To get started you will need a pressure cooker! They have become very popular recently and the most common brand people buy is Instant Pot. It’s popular because it’s so easy to use and there are tons of recipes available that are specifically focused on using an IP!
If you don’t have a pressure cooker yet, I recommend trying an Instant Pot!
HONEY BUTTERED CARROTS
This recipe has a very simple ingredient list that is wholesome and so classic — baby carrots, butter, and honey! What more could you ask for in a sweet carrots recipe? Get rid of the processed or breaded veggies and go with this fresh take. Even your kids will love the pop of sweet!
- 2 pounds baby carrots
- 1 cup of water
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 Tablespoons of honey
- 1 Tablespoon parsley flakes
- Salt & pepper, to taste
This recipe is so quick to make that it’s perfect as a last-minute addition to your meal. It’s also great for entertaining or feeding picky eaters. If your kids like carrots, you’ll want to try this recipe!
HOW TO PREP CARROTS
The easiest way to make this side dish is with baby carrots. You can rinse them and use them whole or cut them in half for more chunked carrot bites. If you don’t have baby carrots, you can also use whole carrots. Wash, peel, and then cut your carrots into chunks.
Baby carrots really are the way to go if you’re looking for easy. You can get 1 pound bags of them at any grocery store and you can often find 2 pound bags as well! I’ve never seen my local stores out of baby carrots so you know you can count on them!
To get started, be sure to rinse your carrots off. Peel them if needed and then chop (or not)!
CAN YOU COOK CARROTS IN A PRESSURE COOKER?
Absolutely! You can use this recipe with any pressure cooker. I just happen to own an Instant Pot so that’s the one I use.
One of my favorite things about pressure cooker carrots is the time factor. They’re much quicker than other cooking methods, but if you would prefer to make yours another way, try making Crockpot Carrots or Air Fryer Carrots.
To get started, prep your carrots. If you cut them, you want fairly large pieces. Then add the carrots and water to your Instant Pot. Close the lid and set the steam release to sealing position. Cook on high pressure for 2-3 minutes.
I prefer softer carrots so I cook them for 3 minutes. If you’re using larger chunks of carrots, I recommend sticking with 3 minutes. But if you’re using smaller carrots or you like your carrots a bit crunchier, you can cook them for 2 minutes.
Remember that it takes some time for the Instant Pot to come up to pressure. If can take about 10 minutes so if you’re timing out different parts of the meal, keep this in mind.
Once the countdown timer on the IP has ended, do a quick pressure release by moving the steam release to vent. Please be very careful when you release the steam! I recommend wearing oven mitts to avoid getting burned. It’s absolutely the worst!
As soon as the release is finished, remove the lid. Otherwise, your carrots will continue cooking.
Take the insert out of the Instant Pot and drain the water. Leave the carrots in the insert and put it back into the IP. Add in the butter and the honey. You can then put the lid back on for a minute to help the butter melt.
Add the salt and pepper then stir it all together. Put into a serving bowl and sprinkle with parsley.
Instant Pot Carrots
These pressure cooker carrots are easy to make and have delicious sweet, buttered carrots flavor!
- 2 lbs baby carrots
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 Tbs honey
- salt and pepper (to taste)
- parsley flakes (to garnish)
Rinse and prepare carrots, if needed. (Cut whole carrots/large carrots into chunks.) Add carrots and water to Instant Pot
Close the lid and set the steam release to sealing position. Cook on high pressure for 2-3 minutes. (Remember it takes about 10 minutes for the Instant Pot to come to pressure.)
Once finished, move the steam release to vent. (Carefully so you don’t get burned!)
Once the release is finished, remove the insert and drain the water out. Leave the carrots in the insert and put it back in the Instant Pot.
Add butter and honey. Cover with lid for 1 minute to melt butter.
Add salt and pepper. Mix together.
Remove from Instant Pot to serving dish and garnish with parsley.
